It’s the 7th tournament of the year TRT Zimbabwe has managed to break new ground by hosting the first ever tournament at Tafara 5 Primary School which joined the program earlier this year.

Clean sports kit, perfect sunny weather and tag rugby boys and girls in ecstasy set up the stage for a perfect tournament at the new venue. Four teams rallied in to participate in a round robin system beginning at 9am. Mabvuku A and B made the finals and congratulations to Mabvuku A which was triumphant. This left Mabvuku B in second position, Glen View A 3rd and Glen View B in forth position.

During the excitement the TRT Zimbabwe media team took some time to interview Mr. Mutara (pictured below centre with Max & Jill) who is the sports director of Tafara 5 Primary. He said, ‘I am honored that the project was taken to the grassroots and everything has been well prepared and is excited that the school has been involved.’

All the teams present displayed some quality Tag Rugby although at time running across lowered the number of tries scored in the game. Never the less, TRT Zimbabwe would like to commend the coaches for the tremendous job they continue to do in coaching teams and preparing teams for the tournament despite it being a school holiday. Also in full support the deputy commented, ‘I am happy that this project is developing our community and I hope the good work continues.’

TRT Zimbabwe is always open for any support is it financial, in equipment or even in a volunteer basis. Fortunately during this particular tournament TRT Zimbabwe would like to thank Spar Zimbabwe for their continued support in the TRT Zimbabwe project in Harare.
